ENLACE Guest speakers will be in our class 3 time through the month of March to assist in our development of your YARP and as well as to provide perspective on possible job opportunities for the summer. Please make sure you follow to YARP 216 timeline and focus on your project completion by no later than APRIL 21st!

2016 Spring Semester is HERE!!!
Important Dates

January 29th: ANNUAL SILENT NIGHT BASKETBALL GAME: SATURDAY @2:00 PM CHS NEST
Principles of Democracy We will start the Spring Semester with a student pre-assessment and questionnaire to get a feel for where they are at with their knowledge on our next 4 units for Principles of Democracy.
We will then start Unit #5: Political Parties and Elections unit and it will take us into the first week of February. This unit will have a lecture component to it as well as a project assessment at the completion of the unit. Please keep an eye on our daily assignments page for project updates, due dates, and submission windows.
ENLACE This semester we will jump into our college submitted applications and check on the status of them as well as research the next steps for college. We will also do a writing activity for our Life's Blueprint and discuss topics for our Action Research Project.

Principles of Democracy We will be wrapping up our Unit #4: Three Branches of US Government by December 11th. Out entire final exam will be over the Three Branches so make sure you complete your assignments, follow along during our lectures and ask questions if you have any. You will be receiving your Final Exam Study guide the week before finals week so make sure you make the most of your extra time and STUDY! There will be vital resources posted to assist your efforts on your study guide so make sure you focus on the assignments page for updates before finals week!
ENLACE We will be working on our Resume Building Unit this month and will be focusing on our competition for the 3 seats available to spend 2 days in Santa Fe for ENLACE DAY and the Start of the Legislative Session. We will also have a couple of guest speakers in class as well as a couple study session days with valuable study techniques that will help you find success on your finals!

November Update
Interim notice window for the 2nd 9 weeks opens on November 12th. Please make sure you have completed all your work to the best of your ability and have caught up on your make-up work if you have had any!
November 11th - Veteran's Day - NO SCHOOL
November 25-27 - Thanksgiving Break - NO SCHOOL
Principles of Democracy students will be starting the month off with a Research based Amendment booklet project for the first week of the month. Follow along on our daily assignments page if you have any questions. The second week of November will introduce unit #4 which is the THREE BRANCHES of our government and this unit will carry us until the end of the Fall 2015 semester.
ENLACE students will have our second field trip of the semester this month (November 19) and it will be at Dona Ana Community College's East Mesa Campus. The theme of the field trip will be ENLACE's Youth Art and Culture Conference. We will be finalizing our presentations for this Conference the first 2 weeks of November and will be moving in to Scholarship and College Application mode for the remainder of the month.

ATTENTION STUDENTS (ESPECIALLY SENIORS!) END OF THE 1st GRADING PERIOD IS OCTOBER 14th!!!!
Make sure your grades are looking up before then because you do not want to dig yourself out of a hole as a senior right after the end of the 1st grading period!
FALL BREAK is October 8-12, NO SCHOOL!
Principles of Democracy students will be taking a quiz over unit #2 right before/after fall break so make sure that you study your notes! We will also start and finish unit #3 before the end of this month so sit down, buckle up and hold on because its going to be a fast paced, educational month!
ENLACE will be having a number of guest speakers coming through this month and we will also be making preparations for our END OF YEAR COLLEGE TRIP! More info to come in class and during a mandatory student meeting at lunch and mandatory parent meeting at the beginning of November! Stay tuned for more information!
ENLACE Students will also be having their first field-trip of the year on October 15th and that will be our ENLACE DAY @ NMSU! Please make sure your permission slips are turned in ASAP!

We will also have NMSU and DACC in class on the 6th of May to go over any and everything that you need to finish your registration and enrollment process. Principles of Democracy Unit #6 Civil Rights and Civil Liberties will begin and we will focus on a variety of primary source documents that allow us to gain a critical approach to the difference between civil rights and civil liberties. ENLACE We will begin our Youth Action Research Projects for our YARP Conference in April. This project will consist of guest speakers coming in from our community and a number of college professors to assist us in our college readiness research and writing skills. We will have a step by step approach at our research and we will focus on a fully developed rubric and action research guide developed by NMSU faculty.
