About Me
Last Edited July 2016
Hello and welcome to my about me page. This page is for you all to get to know a little about me to help build a stronger connection for our classroom community during this school year. If at any time a question may arise please feel free to let me know.
Intro
Born and raised in the Mesilla Valley, I am the oldest of 3 children and have a strong sense of family and what it means to give and receive unconditional love. Being raised in a single parent household, with my mom taking the role of both mother and father was hard at times, and when my dad was around things were different. I thank my mother for showing me what love means and my father for teaching me what hard work requires.
Education
Made my way up from elementary, middle, and high school scraping by and doing what it took to graduate on time. Graduation wasn't very high on my priority list at the time because all I could think of was working and making money. But little by little that seed my mom planted when she said it was her dream for all of her children to graduate not only from high school but from college as well, began to grow. I enrolled at Dona Ana Community College the summer after I graduated and did not know what I wanted in life. My first semester was a huge reality check and really made me question what I was going to do with my life in the future. After appealing for academic probation and receiving a 1.26 GPA for my first semester in college, I made goals and laid out a path to make my dreams a reality. Two degrees later, I paved the way for my younger siblings by becoming a first generation college graduate with a 3.2 GPA average.
Adulthood
While attending college I married the love of my life and had a son a year after getting married and a daughter two years after that. My son's name is Jonah Paul and my daughter is named Lauryn Elise. The are my life. Everything I do I do it for them. Having a professional career as a teacher has been an amazing journey, and as I look to the future, I see myself climbing that ladder of success and following my teaching philosophy of learning the past, living the present, and leading the future one day at a time. It is through the power of education that I have made my tomorrows brighter than my yesterdays and this is the lesson I will continue to teach.
Students are the architects of their own future, the captain of their own ship, through a focused strong mind and a kind loving heart, WE will together change the world and make it a better place.
